Weekly Challenge #205: "Year of the Goat"

Chinese New Year 2015: Celebration Of The New Lunar Year In Australia

February 19th, 2015 celebrates Chinese New Year. According to Chinese astrology, each year (starting from Chinese New Year) is associated with an animal sign, occurring in a 12 year cycle. This new cycle begins the "Year of the Goat".

So, in celebration of the Chinese New Year, The Diva has challenged us to incorporate the Chinese New year into our tile.

I used the Capricorn (goat zodiac sign) star constellation as my string. As I was looking at maps of the stars I decided to include Suzanne McNeill’s tangle pattern 'star map' as part of my tile.

Below are images of my string and completed tile for your enjoyment.

If you would like to take a look at other people's submissions to this weeks Diva's challenge, then head on over to The Diva's Blog and click on the links to other wonderful tiles.

Have a grand Chinese New Year & happy tangling everyone.

  1. Inspired idea to use the constellation map as your string. I was trying to think of a way to avoid having to draw a goat, but I obviously wasn't sufficiently thinking outside the box. ;-) Nice tile. Happy Lunar New Year----all the way to Oz.
