Wild Rhinos seen in local Shopping Centre

On a trip to my local shopping centre recently I noticed a number of Rhinos on display at various locations. These rhinos have been decorated by students from schools in the local area as part of a free public art exhibition to help raise awareness and vital funds for Taronga Zoo's leading Black rhino breeding program and in-situ conservation projects.

Two in particular took my eye. I know you will recognise some of the patterns.

Did you know that in the wild, poaching is causing world rhino populations to collapse, pushing these animals towards extinction. Right now, one rhino is killed every 11 hours by poachers.

Taronga Wild! Rhinos is a Wild in Art event that has brought businesses, artists and schools together to create a spectacular world-class sculpture trail through the streets, parks and public spaces of Sydney. The herd consists of 125 wildly colourful rhino and calf sculptures.

Weekly Challenge #163: New Official Tangle - Rixty

I just love the rixty tangle. It just wants to keep going on and on. With this tile I started out by completing the border. Then as I was completing the middle part it kept whispering to me that it wanted to be coloured. So I went with the flow, and this is my result which I am very happy with. It's funny because I don't usually use colour when I tangle.

Weekly Challenge #162: "String Theory - Initial String"

This week, the Diva challenged us to using out initials as the string for a tile.

I really enjoyed playing with this challenge. I have used my initials on various occasions before and each time I use my initials as the string I come up with something totally different.

This is my tile for this challenge using my initials.

Can you spot the 'L' and the 'W'?

Cheers & happy tangling, until next time.

Weekly Challenge #161: "In a Quandary about Quandary"

This week The Diva challenged us to try our hand at quandry. This has got to be one of the most challenging patterns the master. Knowing this is one I have practiced before, I took the plunge and went straight to a tile.

I started with quandry in on of the sections of the tile I had created with my string. From there it just morphed into a border around the outside of the tile. I rather like quandry as a border and had not used it in this way before. Although I still don't feel I have mastered quandry, I do like what I came up with.

Thank you to the Diva for setting such a challenging challenge. I will continue to hone my skills with quandry.

Until next time. Happy tangling everyone.

Weekly Challenge #160: "String Theory: Spiral out, Keep Going! (v.2)"

This weeks challenge was to use a spiral as the string. This is my zentangle for this challenge.
