Surprising Results

Zentangle always keeps on surprising

I wanted to share an idea I was inspired to try after reading one of CZT, Sue Jacobs blog posts a while back. Sue used a paper chain doll template in the round as a string for a zendala.

After some research and some playing around I completed my first zendala using a paper chain doll template. In the completed Zendala it is very hard to see the original paper chain dolls.

Here is my first Zendala.

Tangles: zonked, finery & printemps

I loved the result and decided to run a class using this idea.

Unfortunately there was only one participant in this workshop but we were both surprised at the different looks we had achieved.
The zendala drawn by the participant ended up with the same basic outline as my original. However, using the same paper chain doll template and tangles I was surprised at how different my Zendala turned out. Thinking back, I must have placed the template in a different position to where I had placed it originally. The tangles were placed in exactly the same spaces on the Zendala, yet it is surprising how different they both look.
This is the one I completed during the workshop.

Here is a photo of the two workshop Zendalas before they were finished.

Unexpected & surprising results are just one of the amazing things about Zentangle. You never know what is going to happen. I love it!
