I rarely use anything but my Sakura(R) Micron pens when I tangle. However, The Diva challenge this week was to use a different medium for tangling. I have also been wanting to try the technique of Zenbossing. So to kill two birds with one stone, I have used a stylus on my tile, as my new medium, to draw the tangles. A Youtube video tutorial by Romi Borax Marks is the inspiration for the Zenbossing technique. You can check out her video here.

Since the tangles are difficult to see when drawn with a stylus, I used coloured pencils to highlight the tangles so they could be seen more clearly and used a gold gel pen as my border.

Love it!!!
ReplyDeleteVery nice! I love how you used colored pencils to bring out the tangles instead of graphite.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great try!!!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty and something I hadn't thought of!
ReplyDeleteAlso an idea what I wouln't have thought of. Very nice!!
ReplyDeleteI've used this technique before but I did it on the front side of the tile so that the tangles were engraved rather than embossed. It looks like you've done your embossing on the back of your tile so that the lines are raised on the front side. Did you have to press really hard with the stylus to make the lines show from the front? Also, did you draw the whole design with pen or pencil on the back and then trace over the lines with your stylus?
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment. The embossing was done on the front of the tile, not the back. The photo is deceptive. The whole design was drawn with the stylus.
DeleteIt's an optical illusion. I can see what you mean when I flip your photo from top to bottom. It's rather freaky how it changes from looking raised to being carved out just by flipping the tile so that the light is coming from the other way.
