I love the idea of no preconceived ideas with Zentangle & the astonishing results you can achieve.
My first tile ended up looking like "Umble Pie".

I had so much fun I decided to umble on a black tile. This was achieved slightly differently. On the white tile it is the black inside of the umble pattern that is coloured. With the black tile it is the white outside edge that is coloured. It's very simple but I think it looks great.
To check out how other people have used 'umble' go to the Diva Challenge page, scroll down and click on the individual links. You will be amazed!

I like them both, very original.
ReplyDeleteHi, I like your tiles, but am wondering something. Being self taught I was thinking that the point of "Umble" was the sense of depth in the center of a "circle" [?] of arches. Not just the single element of a wide center stripe with an aura along it's sides. I guess I'm wrong though as not too many people are using the "depth" concept. Any help for me?
ReplyDeleteHi Tracy. Both these tiles use tangleations of the umble pattern. Being self taught can only take you so far on your Zentangle journey. If you want to understand & enhance your Zentangle I would suggest you seek out a CZT close to you & take classes from them. You can find a list of CZT on the Zentangle web site at https://www.zentangle.com/teachers.php
DeleteAn Umble-Pie ... really original idea! Very nicely done!
