All my life I knew I had no artistic talent. I could never draw anything better than stick figures and art classes were always a nightmare for me, knowing my results would look awful when compared to everyone elses. Over the years I have dabbled in different art forms but deep inside there was always a feeling of frustration.
Then in 2013 I stumbled upon an art form I had not heard of before. It's called Zentangle®
Researching on the internet I read how anyone could create beautiful pieces of art using the Zentangle method. It is described as "an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun method to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns (www.zentangle.com). I decided to give it a go. I have been blown away by the ease of creating works of art where I am proud to say, "I did that!", and that frustration I was feeling has gone away.
So keen was I to learn more, I packed my bags with only 3 weeks notice, and went to America to attend a Zentangle seminar with Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas, the founders of Zentangle. I am now a Certified Zentangle Teacher (CZT).For me Zentangle has provided an avenue for me to explore my creativity and now I want to share it with anyone who is willing to learn more about Zentangle and give it a go. Hence the reason for this blog.
Welcome to 2014 and a great year for tangling!

Your words echo my own route to Zentangle, Lianne, only I haven't had chance to do the CZT course...but if I could, I would!
ReplyDeleteLovely tile - I do like how the colours merge and contrast with each other. Axxx
Thank you Annie for your comments. FYI - the tile was done using scratch art paper. Lianne
DeleteWelcome to the ranks of CZTs and participants in the Diva Challenge. Like how the scratch art looks. Have not used them. Good luck on your Zentangle journey. I got my CZT in 2012 (CZT 10).
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments. I am looking forward to my Zentangle journey.
DeleteGreat to see you here. Your story is almost mine, but like Annie I did not go to USA (yet???). Flying is not a thing I am looking forward to.
ReplyDeleteHope to see more of you.
Thanks Anne for your comment. It is well worth the flight to complete the Zentangle seminar with Rick & Maria.
DeleteWonderful! I like the rainbow colors! Great idea of tangling on scratch paper!
ReplyDeleteLike you, Anne and Annie is my zentangle story, too! But I think, I´ll never have a chance of attending a CZT course.
I do like working on the scratch paper. It gives great results. If you can't attend the course, at least try to find a CZT near your and take a class. It is worth it.
DeleteWelcome and great start to the new year!
ReplyDeleteMany thanks Kate.
